Title: Does a Geothermal Heat Pump Cool as well as heat?
Post by: Dan on May 19, 2012, 07:52:58 AM
Yes. A Geothermal heat pump is not much different from an Air Source heat pump in the fact that they heat and cool. The big difference is the outdoor heat exchanger. With a geothermal heat pump the out door section is actually pipes that run under ground. These pipes lose heat to the ground in cooling and absorb heat from the ground in heating.
