Title: Cold lower floors, Vancouver WA
Post by: Dan on February 05, 2012, 03:31:31 PM
Cold lower floors,

Customers in Vancouver Wa. often ask me what can we do about their cold lower floors? I find that in many homes the heat vents on these lower floors are in the ceiling and so is the return air inlets. On a lower floor the cold air will fall and the heat will rise. If you want to heat a lower room that has supply's in the ceiling you must pull the cold air from the floor allowing the heat to come down and this cold air to be moved across the heat exchanger. By moving the return or adding a new return down to floor level you may find that this does a great deal to fix your problem. Adding more vents, or more fan, or a larger furnace may not be the correct approach to solve this particular problem and there is a lot of money and energy to be saved. The fix might be easier then you think. Give us a call if you need help.  Our goal is lifelong customers through honesty, quality, and reliability.
